Most people tend to rate such statements as highly accurate in their case...which is why astrology seems to work :P. This phenomenon is called Forer effect!

Ah, I didn't know that such nostradamus-like verses had a name. Its only a matter of time that this Forer came up with this 'name' before me. It doesn't take an einstein to figure all this out, you see.

The point was that psychologists have done scientific studies/experiments on these kind of things in the 1950s, and still people believe in the awesome power of predictions by nostradamus, astrology, palmistry whatever.
I can be a nostradamus and say that near whichever airport where the hijacked plane started, there will be a golf course - with a high degree of accuracy ;).
PS: Again, as always, i am not saying all such ppl who believe in astrology/jyothish/horoscope etc are kooks. Let them have their own beliefs if it helps them :).
